Kathleen Kelley Reardon
West Cork Artist
Fastnet Fantasy Watercolour 22cm x 30cm

I studied art in college but did not begin
painting until Chris and I and our three
young children moved to Schull years ago.
I took painting courses in Schull and was
fortunate to join an art group, learning from
the members’ generous tutelage and that
of individual artists in West Cork and
New England.
Painting is so much more than skill. It’s when
the heart and mind work in harmony with
good materials and experimentation that
many of the best paintings emerge. I had to
learn to let go of rigidness and allow the water
and paints to inform as much as to facilitate form.
The landscapes, seascapes and flowers I paint
emanate from the beauty of West Cork.
My paintings are often “lyrical” I’m told by other
artists – welcoming of a story.
I have been a professor and the author of ten
nonfiction books. My first novel, Shadow Campus,
is a mystery- thriller published by
Blue Mustang Press in Boston (2013).
Like writing, painting develops in stages.
I hope you enjoy where it has taken me thus
far as much as I’ve enjoyed the journey.
